Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Juryd collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Juryd (“Juryd”, “we”, “us”) is responsible for your information. You can reach us about privacy at any time at legal@juryd.example.
The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and show your verdicts. Your profile and verdicts are public; your email address and password are not. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and we don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: email address, username, display name, and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way, salted hash; we never see or store the password itself.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo from your Google account. We don’t receive your Google password.
- Profile details you choose to add: profile and header photos, bio, location, website link, and the team you support.
- Your activity: verdicts (ratings), reviews, Man of the Match picks, likes, the people you follow, the teams and competitions you follow, and the history of the team you support.
- Choices and agreements: your colour theme, whether you want product news by email, the date you accepted our Terms and this policy, and your age confirmation.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Essential cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms from forgery. See our Cookie Policy.
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps, used for security and to keep the site running.
- On your device, only if you allow it: the email you last signed in with, so the sign-in form can be pre-filled.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking tools.
2. What’s public
Juryd is a public platform. Anyone, including people without an account and search engines, can see your username, display name, profile and header photos, bio, location, website, the team you support (and any team switches), your verdicts, reviews, Man of the Match picks, likes, followers and following, and when you joined. Your email address, password, marketing choice and agreement records are never public. Please think before posting anything you’d like to keep private.
3. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your profile, verdicts and reviews.
- To build the collective verdict for each match from everyone’s ratings.
- To personalise Juryd: surfacing your teams’ matches and suggesting people to follow.
- To send service emails, such as a welcome email and important notices about your account or these policies.
- To send occasional product news, but only if you opted in. You can opt out at any time.
- To keep Juryd safe: preventing spam, abuse, fraud and security incidents, and enforcing our Terms.
- To fix problems and improve the Service.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
4. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to keep Juryd secure, prevent abuse and improve it, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: for marketing emails and for remembering your email on your device. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
5. Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run Juryd under contracts that limit how they use it: our hosting and database provider, and our email delivery provider (Resend), which sends our emails.
- With Google, if you choose to sign in with Google, under Google’s privacy policy.
- With the public, for the profile and activity described in section 2.
- When you share: if you use a share button, the destination (such as X, Threads or Reddit) receives what you choose to post.
- For legal reasons: to comply with the law or a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or Juryd.
Images loaded from other services
Club crests, competition logos and player photos are loaded directly from third-party image services (including ESPN, TheSportsDB and API-Sports). When your browser loads them, those services receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type, as with any image on the web. We don’t send them your account information.
6. Where your information is stored
Juryd is operated from Canada and our providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States or other countries. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your account information for as long as you have an account.
- When you deactivate your account, it’s hidden from everyone straight away and kept for 30 days so you can restore it by signing back in. After 30 days — or straight away if you choose to delete immediately — we delete your profile, verdicts, reviews, likes, follows and photos from the live Service. Copies in backups are removed within a further 30 days. If you tell us why you’re leaving, we keep that feedback with your account and delete it along with it.
- We may keep limited records for longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our Terms, such as records that you accepted our Terms. Server logs are kept only for a short period.
- Content you shared to other platforms, or that others copied, is outside our control and isn’t removed when you delete your account.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy in a portable format.
- Correct it: most details can be edited directly in Edit profile.
- Delete it: go to Settings → Deactivate your account (deleted after 30 days, or immediately if you choose), or email us.
- Object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent (for example, to marketing emails) at any time.
- Complain to a data protection authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, your local EEA authority, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
To make a request, email legal@juryd.example. We’ll respond within 30 days, and may need to confirm your identity first. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
California residents: we don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we don’t use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You have the rights to know, delete, correct and not be discriminated against, which you can exercise as described above.
9. Children
Juryd isn’t for children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and UK. We don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact legal@juryd.example and we’ll delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS) when deployed, and access controls. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and ask you to review and accept the new policy before you continue using Juryd.
